Our Story

1915 photo of the Byrum Bros Hardware Co original storefront in Edenton, NC

Our story began in 1914 when T.C Byrum and G.W. Goodwin, with a keen eye for community need, founded our store under the name Goodwin & Byrum Hardware. Their vision was simple yet profound: to supply local farmers, contractors, and homeowners in Chowan County with the essential equipment and convenient supplies needed to get back to their important day-to-day work. In 1915, the business was reorganized and changed to Byrum Brothers Hardware Co.

What started as a dedicated hardware store for hardworking folks has grown and evolved over the last century, adapting to the changing needs of Edenton, but one thing has remained unwavering: our family's deep dedication to serving this community. This business has proudly stayed in the Byrum family for generations, a true testament to our enduring commitment.
